A few days ago an article, in the leading daily newspaper of the tricity, was published stating that a case of Medico-legal Negligence had been filed against a private dentist practicing in Chandigarh. It has been alleged that the dentist used substandard implants and did not get any consent from the patient for the surgery.

The dentist’s take on the news articles published in various newspapers is as under.
“With reference to above news item published in news paper, I submit that the said news item is damaging to reputation, repulsive and derogatory which lowers my dignity, honor and reputation in the eyes of general public, family, friends and acquaintances, who have approached us after the publication of the news item to express their shock and dismay. The news item is malicious, unfair, vexatious, humiliating, derogatory and unilateral. The said news has been based only and only on the false and concocted version of the complainant, Mrs.Gertrude Dsouza and police authorities, who are acting at her behest. No attempt whatsoever has been made to take our side of story or my opinion/ version before publication of such news item.
The true facts of the case are as below:
1. Mrs Gertrude Dsouza has used her high link ups with Mr Rakesh Asthana, CBI special Director and DGP Chandigarh police Mr Luthra to lodge a false case. We along with various other dental associations and doctor bodies will soon hold a press conference and present a memorandum against the same.
2. As per your news, several acts of medico-legal negligence such as placing of implants without consent, implants being of substandard quality etc have been attributed to me, which is completely false and no attempt has been made to reach the truth. I have all the duly signed consent forms required for the surgery. The implants placed are one of the best available. It is important to mention that police officials have deliberately not booked me for Medico-legal Negligence.
3. I have been alleged of cheating her in pretext of trips to Shimla or Agra. The true matter of fact is I have documented evidence of her refusing to go to these destinations even when the reservations were made by us and paid by us.
4. It sole attempt of complainant is to defame me and extort money along with manifold serious repercussions on my career.She has concocted a series of lies in the FIR which has been given a criminal color by police.
5. True matter of fact is that we had already filed a civil suit for recovery against her. She has been summoned by the Hon’ble Court wide order dated 07.02.18. To protect her skin, she fabricated bundle of lies. The police authorities have registered an FIR on 19/03/18. (after the copy of order was provided to the inquiry Officer).
I hereby call upon you to publish the correct and true facts based on documentary record, which is available with me as against oral assertions and false allegations of the complainant. “
We hope that justice prevails and the image of Indian Dentists comes out clean.
